How do you treat your pet ferrets?

I just wondered if I am doing enough? My ferrets have a 2.5 meter by 1.2 meter outdoor cage with a second floor leading to an indoor hutch with hay and blankets. I let them loose to run around a garage which is about 5 meters by 2.5 meters with cat scratching posts and tunnels and they eat chicken twice weekly on top of their normal food. I handle them whilst they come out daily in the garage for about an hour. Is this a nice situation for a ferret? (I would hate to think that they have a poor life and usually feel guilty that they are not in the wild).
