I have a 1983 volvo 240 automatic and the overdrive is not working.?

i have checked the relay and the shifter knob switch, and both are working. what does not work is the overdrive indicator light, and obviously the overdrive. i followed the wiring down as far as i could, and all seems to be intact. what should i do?
