What is the best pet for college?

I'm very in love with iguana's right now (I even got a temporary tattoo. :p), but I think they would be hard to care for in college. I'm willing to wait until I move to florida. So, I was also thinking about a bird. I'd prefer a vegetarian animal, but I'm not sure if birds will be too messy/noisy. I can sleep with the tv/radio on, but it can't be screaming loud. I'm open to other pet suggestions.
