Is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale always this gross?

One day a while back I paid my buddy a visit and he invited over some girls and got some pizzas and for my part I got some beer for us all. I was about to grab something regular like Budweiser or some Miller then my buddy started clamoring for Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, so I got it since its not like I was on the hook to get all that pizza. I eat half a slice of my pizza and drink about 1/3 of one of those beers and it was the most bitter and sourest beer I had ever tasted. I swear it tasted like cardboard and really stagnant water, yet everyone else drank them like it was some kind of treat and I violently threw up even though I wasn't sick and I don't have any problems holding my drinks. How does this stuff make it into stores if it tastes like this?
